| Frequently asked questions about Reiki for Companion Animals What is Reiki? Reiki is a gentle Japanese Healing technique. All of us, including our loving companion animals are made up energy that flows within us and around us. Reiki is also called Universal Life Force Energy. As illness and dis-ease in human and non-human animals manifests itself, energy becomes blocked and stagnant. Removing these blocks can open up the healthy flow of energy needed to maintain a happy and healthy body. This in turn restores balance and allows the body to heal itself. How can Reiki be performed on animals? The same way it can be administered to humans. By having the animal relax and have the Reiki practitioner rest their hands on or just above the animal and send Reiki energy through the animal while removing unwanted blocks. The animals I have worked on are open to the Reiki and feel relaxed and sometimes very blessed and thankful to have the gentle attention given to them. How can you know what the animal is feeling? Even though I cannot talk in a verbal language with my non human clients, I do receive messages from them intuitively. Animals are so pure and childlike in their beautiful innocence. It is often a simple reason that the animal has manifested a physical condition. What will my companion animal feel? Your companion animal will feel relaxed and may even fall asleep. It may make them seem tired or very content. Because Reiki is such a gentle technique there is no risk to your companion animal at all. As mentioned above, in serious cases Reiki can be performed from a distance without the use of touch. Do you travel to a client's home? I am willing to travel to the east bay area which includes Barrington, Warren, Bristol, and Riverside. Aside from those areas and due to my full schedule, I have clients bring their companion animals to my office in Warren RI. In serious cases I am able to perform distance Reiki. How much does a Reiki session cost? An initial Reiki session for companion animals lasts forty-five minutes. During that time I spend about 15 minutes discussing the issues with you. The remainder of the time I spend performing Reiki on your companion Animal. Office Visit:The fee for the first session is $44.00 payable at the visit. The initial or first session lasts approximately 45 minutes. Follow up sessions are $30.00 and last approximately 30 minutes. Home Visit:An initial home visit typically lasts 45-50 minutes and costs $54.00 Follow up sessions for a home visit last approx. 35 minutes and cost $44.00 What experience do you have with animals? Performing Reiki on Animals is a combination of my two areas of expertise. I have been working with animals for decades. For ten years I was co president and on the board of the RI Animal Coalition. I rescued injured animals and help facilitate education about animal abuse in RI. For three years I was a humane educator for the Living Earth Learning Project in Boston. I visited schools all over southeastern New England and taught about animals in our society and how we can respect and treat them fairly. I also spent many years during this time fostering dozens of homeless animals. I took in many injured cats and paid for their health care in addition to spaying and neutering them. During this time I researched becoming a non-profit shelter because of the amount of animals I was caring for. (I do NOT do that part any longer!) In fact my love for all non-human animals reaches to all living beings and led to my decision to become a vegan vegetarian almost 18 years ago. Additionally, I am a certified Usui Reiki Master Teacher and have been teaching, certifying students, and performing Reiki for years. I work from Circle of Light, a local business that I own in Warren RI. I look forward to working with your Companion Animal!!
